Kanaan
I'm back...
So Kanaan is a desert! Probably not the best place to go for someone with a sand phobia but oh well I'm here now.
It is beautiful and the colours of the different sands are lovely. We started our week with a nice game drive in the morning, so we got to see alot of the scenery and desert dwelling animals. There were some oryx, bat eared foxes, which are really cute and ostrich.
In the afternoon we took our newly braided wires to repair some fencing.
Tuesday was the morning we all dreaded, taking down fencing 😩 we had to climb up a mountain, rip out the post, then dig out the wire. It was back breaking work but we got a fair amount of it out.
In the afternoon the wind picked up so we were able to go Blocarting, it was a lot of fun. In the evening on Wednesday we were taken out to enjoy a beer watching the sunset, couple of us decided the view would be better from the mini mountain in front of us and I'm happy to say we were right. It was stunning.
Wednesday started with another game count, our afternoon was no work but cocktails at the Lodge 🤩 it was a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon looking out over the desert with a cocktail or 2 in our hands.
Thursday was meant to be a mountain hike, but as some people overindulged the night before Sima our guide took pity and took us on another game drive. The afternoon was a little more strenuous as we were taken to a Cara Delevine photo shoot and had to take apart the structure.
Friday was an early start, 5.30 we were up and off to enjoy a sunrise breakfast. We all sat there listening to the circle of life as the sun rose from behind the mountains.
This was followed by sandboarding. It was fun but after watching the guys crash and burn many times, us girls decided to sit on the way down!
In the afternoon we were meant to wash the cars but it had got so hot Sima said we could do it after 'bite of the day' at the Lodge. This was a treat they put on for us, we're we can have drinks and enjoy a selection of desserts. As you can imagine we didn't make it back in time to wash the cars!
Friday evening, we all sat out around he bonfire and made our own stews over the fire. We also thought it would be a good idea to stay up late again and sleep on the way home...we didn't learn from our mistake the week before, as again it was difficult to sleep on the bus, but I'm happy to say I did manage about half an hour of the 9 hour drive.
We were all shattered by the time we got back but it was lovely to see some of the friends we'd left behind, we ended up staying up late again!
Today is my day of rest! All I've done is eat, sleep and write this, which only happened because Mum reminded me 🙈 I'll try to update more often next week.
