Namibia day 1 and 2

After leaving Capetown Monday morning, I arrived in Windhoek airport along with 3 other volunteers. Tommie, Pingu and Blueberry (not all their real names), Dutch, Norwegian and Polish, all very lovely.
It took an hour drive in the truck, that felt like the floor was going to fall out due to the crazy roads for us to arrive at the sanctuary.
We got the short tour, given our uniforms then shown our rooms, turns out I'm sharing with Blueberry, who is not the tidiest roommate!
After quick showers we met for dinner and had a chat around the fire pit, we felt very much the newbies!

Who knew the temperature would drop quite so drastically, it was freezing 🥶 I actually wore layers in bed and used a blanket!

First full day...
Our group thought we would only do our morning activity but turns out they said we could miss our induction in the afternoon and just get straight to it.
I am in Lion group this week, although my one buddy (every other group has 5) hasn't arrived yet so I joined another group to do K9 training. It was amazing. The dogs are unbelievable, their is Mufasa, Zuri, Nala and Zulu. We worked on agility, commands, hunting out objects and poachers, I'm going to be the poacher next time 😁
To finish off we were taken into the reserve for a walk, I was given Mufusa, who is the leader, so really I was taken for a walk as he is so strong!
We saw some Zebra, Elan and Springbok.
Back to camp for lunch then onto activity 2...
Carnivor feeding 😬😄 you'd think they'd at least give me one week here before feeding me to the lions!
It was an experience as we had chickens and a horses head to cut up 🤢
But it was so worth it as the big cats we fed were so beautiful and I even

got to see some giraffes.
It's not so cold tonight so it will hopefully be a better sleep, I just hope the friendly Elan that was outside rummaging by my tent last night stays away tonight!
