Timbila

Monday morning started bright and early with another drive to find the lions. We were lucky enough to find one but unfortunately couldn't spit the rest of the pride.
In the afternoon we went looking for the elephants, we got lucky again and found most of the herd but from distance as we couldn't get the car close enough, no matter how many trees Loki tried to knock down. Afterwards we tried to find Pete, the lone elephant, and when we did he didn't have any problems with getting close, he wanted to see us very up close and personal.
On Tuesday we stayed at Osera (our home for the week) and did work around there. We broke the bird bath so had to remake one out of stones and concrete, we also all added our names so we will forever be apart of Timbila.
In the afternoon we went spotted two Rhino's right outside the house so went to say hi, then stopped of the see the wild dogs on our way to camp Namibia for pizza and cocktail night, it was a very fun evening 🤩
Wednesday we were dropped at the local farm to help out, raking sand has got to be the most pointless job as within 3 minutes it had all been walked over! We did get to have a go on the climbing frame though.
The afternoon was spent relaxing by the pool as our evening was a night drive, followed by a stop in a dry river bed for hot chocolate under the stars around a camp fire.
Thursday morning we went looking for the lions again, this time we did find the pride, Dad, Mum and two cubs. We were able to get closer this time which was so great.
The afternoon we were treated to a trip to the Lodge, for more cocktails and a swim, it was beautiful and another very enjoyable afternoon/evening.
On Friday we were up at 5.30 am for a sunrise hike, it was lovely once we got to the top but not enjoyable getting there.
We then went to help set up for the ocal football tournament. We made up beds, put up gazebos, moved tables and chairs, moved the hay bales and then had a short game of football and jumped in the pool to cool off.
After our long busy morning we went to see the resident hippos of the Lodge, however they didn't want us there so stayed under the water the whole time.
As it was our last afternoon we all decided we would rather look fir the elephants again  then sit around doing another so we went for one last drive. After an our we got very lucky as we found the whole herd if 19 elephants all together. It was special as Pete the loner isn't always allowed to join the herd as he hasn't earnt the matriarchs respect yet!
Friday evening we did a braii and drinks and just relaxed in the lapa. It was the perfect way to spend a wonderful week.
Saturday morning we got up and drove back to the farm, nothing much happened after that apart from some goodbye drinks and fun games.
Sunday is the day of rest so really boring.
Looking forward to leaving tomorrow for my last adventure to Etosha, Swakamond and the Skeleton Coast.
